We Are Revolutionary Statement on the City of Albany’s Decision to Halt SeeClickFix Program

The City of Albany’s decision to discontinue SeeClickFix is a clear reflection of systemic neglect that disregards the voices and needs of its residents. As a grassroots organization committed to addressing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and empowering full families to engage in the political process, We Are Revolutionary condemns this abrupt halt of a program that allowed our community to report and address real issues impacting their daily lives.

SeeClickFix wasn’t just an app – it was a vital tool that gave everyday people a way to hold the city accountable for dangerous road conditions, graffiti, and other quality-of-life concerns. Now, because the courts ruled that these complaints serve as a legal obligation to fix the issues, the city’s response was to immediately shut it down. This decision sends a clear message – the city would rather sidestep responsibility than stand by its duty to protect and serve the community.

The audacity to dismantle a platform that worked – simply because it worked too well – highlights a disturbing reality. At a time when millions are poured into projects that benefit tourists and wealthy developers, our families are left behind. The city continues to invest in vanity projects and toxic developments, while neighborhoods remain neglected, and children grow up in environments that perpetuate harm and instability.

This isn’t just about potholes or graffiti – it’s about respect, dignity, and the fundamental right of our community to demand safe and livable conditions. By halting SeeClickFix, Albany’s leadership is signaling that the voices of its constituents are an inconvenience rather than a priority.

We refuse to accept this. Our mission is to repair the fractures caused by systemic oppression and to build a city that values all families – not just those living in areas that attract tourists and developers. We demand that the city find a solution that upholds the legal obligation to its residents, reinstates a public accountability platform, and redirects resources toward the communities that need it most.

We will continue organizing and mobilizing until Albany’s leadership centers the needs of its people, not profit.
